Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)
DFM is also pleased to help increase access to fresh, local food for low-income seniors by accepting SFMNP coupons. Qualifying seniors are eligible to receive SFMNP benfits if they are at least 60 years old and have household incomes at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty line. More information on eligibility requirements is available through FNS. Learn more HERE.
Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits
EBT is a system that allows customers to use federal SNAP benefits from a government-issued debit card at farmers markets as well as brick-and-mortar stores. SNAP customers redeem benefits by swiping their EBT card on a point-of-sale (POS) terminal at the market in exchange for tokens or a paper receipt, which they can use to buy eligible food products from participating vendors.
