Delmar Farmers Market to Kick Off 9th Season May 6
With expanded offerings of great food, produce, crafts and community activities, the Delmar Farmers Market will officially open for the 2017 season on Saturday, May 6 from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Bethlehem Middle School.
In addition to offering patrons its traditional diversity of fresh, locally-produced farm, food and other products, the market will capitalize on the success of last year’s “Market 2 Table” events — where chefs from area restaurants prepare easy-to-make dishes using vendor products — and feature these events twice monthly from June through September.
Free parent/child yoga classes will be offered courtesy of Foundry Fitness Delmar’s Shelby Moskowitz every Saturday from June 3 through August 26. Market goers can attend free 45-minute yoga classes, suitable for seasoned yogis or beginners alike.
“We are looking beyond the norm to engage the community in new ways this year. It will be special,” said Mark Warford, the market’s President of the Board of Directors. “We have a full roster of vendors and new activities our community has asked for.”
“The market provides something for everyone in the community and we are looking forward to again serving as the town square in Delmar every Saturday morning,” said Market Manager Ken Myer. “We share more than food and crafts and community; we share smiles.”
Also new to the market schedule is Renewable Energy Day, sponsored in part by Solarize Albany. Set for June 17, the event will feature several renewable energy providers (solar, geothermal heating and cooling, electric vehicle and others) offering services in the Capital Region.
More events throughout the season can be found on our web site, delmarmarket.org.
The Delmar Farmers market was recognized by The Daily Meal in 2016 as one of the 101 Best Farmers Markets in America, and remains one of the largest in the Capital District. Renowned for its unique community feel and vibrant blend of farm produce, prepared foods and crafts, market management is proud to celebrate its 9th season promoting sustainable farming, environmental awareness, and healthy foods in support of local and fair trade businesses.
