Delmar Farmers Market Opening on May 5th Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The Delmar Farmers Market will officially open on May 5, 2018 for the market’s 10th season of operation.
The market has always sought to promote environmental awareness, sustainability and serving as a responsible template for farmers markets across the state. This year is no different as the market recently announced that vendors will no longer provide plastic shopping bags for purchases by customers. Due to the costs associated with the transition, the market will provide 100% post-consumer, waste-recycled paper bags to customers not already bringing their own containers.
“We are pleased to celebrate 10 years of offering patrons a diversity of fresh locally-produced farm food and other products,” said market board chair Mark Warford. “Over the years we’ve found that the market has become a meeting place for the community and a place where people can celebrate the variety of goods available.”
The market opens with 45 vendors for the outdoor session and a lineup of local entertainment.
The market will be open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Central Middle School at 332 Kenwood Ave, Delmar. The market features local, organic and natural farm products, baked goods, seafood, prepared food concessions, and local and fair trade crafts. Most of our vendors come from within 35 miles of the market. The market also accepts the SNAP card which makes it easy for card holders to bring home fresh produce, meat and bread products. More information is available at the market hospitality tent.
